Learn to Skate
The Rhinelander Ice Association typically hosts two Learn to Skate sessions each year, providing an excellent opportunity for beginners to develop their skating skills in a supportive environment. For more information on registration, please refer to the posted registrations below.
Learn to Skate Program Overview:
Our Learn to Skate sessions are specifically designed for beginners and focus on the fundamental skills of skating. Each session is led by experienced coaches from the Rhinelander Figure Skating Club (RFSC) as well as dedicated volunteers from the Rhinelander Ice Association (RIA). Participants will receive personalized instruction tailored to their skill level, ensuring a fun and engaging learning experience.
Session Details:
- Session 1: Runs from late October through mid-December
- Session 2: Takes place from late February through March
We encourage all interested skaters to sign up early, as spaces may be limited. The program is open to youth participants of all ages, and we take pride in fostering a welcoming atmosphere for everyone in the skating community. Join us to learn new skills, make friends, and enjoy the thrill of skating!
2025 Spring Learn to Skate Information
Rhinelander Ice Association Spring 2025 Learn to Skate Session
The Rhinelander Ice Association is excited to announce our Spring 2025 Learn to Skate Session! This introductory course is designed to help children get comfortable on the ice while developing essential basic skating skills.
Session Details:
- Ages: Best suited for children ages 4-8, though skaters of other ages are welcome to sign up. For skaters younger than 4, please ensure they have a minimum attention span of 30 minutes.
- Skate Rentals: We provide skates from our rental inventory for participants to use during each session at no additional cost.
Skating Schedule:
- Days: Tuesday Evenings
- Time: 5:45 PM - 6:30 PM
- Dates: March 4 through April 15
Cost:
- The fee for the class is $25 per skater. We require all participants to sign up and pay in advance through our online registration system.
What to Wear:
Participants should dress warmly in loose-fitting clothing, as the rink temperature is typically around 30 degrees. Please also consider wearing gloves and a helmet for added safety and comfort.
